Spa 24 Hours 2020: Eight cars flying the flag for Lamborghini in Belgian classic

21 10月 2020

Lamborghini returns to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgian for the 2020 edition of the 24 Hours of Spa, where it will aim to challenge for victory in all four classes: Pro, Silver Cup, Pro-Am and Am.

Leading the entry is the defending GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS overall champions Orange 1 FFF Racing Team, who will field three cars in the Pro, Silver Cup and Pro-Am classes.

Lamborghini Factory Drivers Andrea Caldarelli, Marco Mapelli and Dennis Lind continue their established partnership in the #63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo, while Florian Latorre, Baptiste Moulin, Taylor Proto and Hugo Chevalier team up in the #555 Silver Cup entry.

British GT title contender Phil Keen will contest the 24 Hours with Hiroshi Hamaguchi – who completed a double victory with Caldarelli in the Le Mans 24 Hours supporting race, the Road to Le Mans last month – with Lamborghini Squadra Corse instructor and head of the Lamborghini Youngster Programme Raffaele Giammaria joining the pair in the #519 machine. Making it a quartet is Lamborghini Test Driver Luigi “Gino” Moccia.

Lamborghini Factory Drivers Albert Costa, Giacomo Altoè and Franck Perera team up in the #163 Huracán GT3 Evo, while Norbert Siedler returns to the #14 car alongside Riccardo Feller and Mikaël Grenier.

One team which knows how to be successful at the 24 Hours of Spa is British outfit Barwell Motorsport. It finished second in Silver Cup in 2018 before going one better last year with the #78 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo.

It’s back again this year with Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals winner Frederik Schandorff joining Alex MacDowall and Patrick Kujala in the #78 car, while Sandy Mitchell continues his partnership with Rob Collard, Leo Machitski and Ricky Collard in the #77 Pro-Am entry.

The final Lamborghini entry for the weekend is Ratón Racing, who will field an Am line-up of Lucas Mauron, Christoph Lenz, Michael Petit and Stefano Constantini

How the weekend looks

Action begins on Thursday with free practice before heading into the first of four qualifying segments. Friday night will be Super Pole before the race begins on Saturday afternoon at 15:30 CET.
