2020 was a truly challenging year that Lamborghini met by delivering 7430 cars, launching 6 new models and breaking its all-time six-month sales record.

Having been forced to close for 70 days in the spring, Lamborghini bounced back to achieve unprecedented production levels and a robust order portfolio that has already filled over half its 2021 schedule.

In the eight months following lockdown, Lamborghini launched six new models, including the Huracán EVO RWD coupé and Spyder, the Sián Roadster, the Essenza SCV12, the Huracán STO, and the SC20, an exclusive open-top one-off.

It also celebrated major milestones, like 10,000 Urus and 10,000 Aventador units as well as launching prestigious partnership projects, like the LEGO Group’s 1:8 scale model of the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37; a capsule collection and a special Aventador S designed by Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto; the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 motor yacht and the Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini limited-edition motorcycle.

There were historic anniversaries too, including the 50th birthdays of both the Urraco and the Jarama GT and the 30th birthday of the iconic Diablo.
Social Responsibility naturally played a leading role. During lockdown, the company helped produce masks, visors and lung simulators and it later donated the Huracán EVO RWD featured in Lady Gaga’s “911” single, to the singer’s community-support sweepstake. The brand also helped Italy’s recovery through “With Italy for Italy” a photographic tour of the bel paese in 21 different Lamborghinis that was initially published on social media but has now become a prestigious photo book.

Social media is one of the brand’s key success stories. In 2020, its Instagram followers grew from 23 to 29 million. It has 12.9 million Facebook fans and in November, it became the first luxury super sports car brand to debut on TikTok.

To complete this remarkable year, on December 1st 2020, Stephan Winkelmann became the new Lamborghini President and CEO, and is now working to ensure the brand continues this level of success in 2021.

As he commented himself: “The 2020 results are a clear demonstration of the excellent work that, despite the difficulties of a year of global challenges, was carried out by the entire Lamborghini team with enormous dedication and a spirit of resilience. It is a great honor for me to again be part of our future: the sense of community felt so strongly during the past year, along with the values of social responsibility and the drive toward innovation that has always distinguished Lamborghini, will be the basis for confronting a challenging 2021, with the aim of consolidating the product range, seeking new business prospects, and further strengthening the brand.”
