California Dreaming aboard Aventador SVJ Roadster

17 January 2020

All Lamborghini drivers around the world have at least one thing in common: a desire for exclusivity. Perfect aerodynamics, world-class technology, futuristic design and beguiling driving dynamics. In brief, typical Lamborghini. So many stirring emotions are only rarely combined in a car. In the case of the Aventador SVJ Roadster, it is even rarer – especially if you want to see it in real life. There are only going to be 800 of these radical driving machines produced.

Slicing through the air

Slicing through the air in sunny California has dreamlike qualities, all the more so when you are driving the powerful Aventador SVJ Roadster. This beast produces 770 CV and generates a maximum 720 Nm of torque at 6750 rpm. At a dry weight of 1575 kg, this equates to a power-to-weight ratio of only 2.05 kg/CV. This is made possible by using ultra-light yet exceptionally strong carbon on certain body parts of the car, such as the engine hood, monocoque and door panels. Lamborghini technicians have also opted for ultra-light materials for the removable hardtop to keep weight to a minimum. Mirroring speeds achieved by racing cars, this super sports car reaches 100 km/hour in just 2.9 seconds and can hit a top speed of over 350 km/hour. This means this Lamborghini is one of the fastest series-produced roadsters in the world. A powerful performance that triggers strong emotions.

Mind-blowing aerodynamics

The innovative ALA 2.0 active aerodynamic system with aero-vectoring ensures that the dynamics are always utilized perfectly out on the road. Depending on driving conditions, the system varies the aerodynamic load in only a few milliseconds. This guarantees minimal drag on the straights and optimal downforce in every bend. Add to this the perfectly designed all-wheel steering and a precision tuned automated seven-speed gearbox.

An all-the-more intense engine roar with the top down

So that drivers can also enjoy ultimate fun with the top down, Lamborghini has given the roadster a two-part hardtop, which is manufactured using an innovative high-pressure RTM process. With the top down, the renowned roar of a Lamborghini engine blends with the sound of the wind, much like a concert of such volume and virtuosity that you would otherwise only hear at phenomenal Italian operas at the Scala in Milan. A powerful orchestra crescendo in fortissimo. Pure goose bumps, a perfect dream and plenty of spirit. Just like the car itself.
